Best AI Trading Apps In 2026: 7 Compared, Including For Beginners
Seven AI trading apps compared on what the AI actually does, whether it places trades or only suggests them, what you can trade, and what it costs, with picks for beginners and active traders.

"AI trading app" now covers four very different products: research assistants that explain the market, bot builders that run your rules, signal services that suggest trades, and agents that read your account and place orders. Picking well starts with knowing which one you want, because the risk is completely different when the AI only talks versus when it presses the button.
I compared seven apps on the questions that matter once real money is involved: what the AI actually does, whether it trades on its own or waits for you, what you can trade, whether there is a real mobile app, and what it costs. Prices and features were checked on each company's own site on 17 October 2026. Several of these products are still rolling out AI features, so check before you sign up.

Robinhood
Robinhood has two separate AI products. Cortex is a research assistant that explains what is moving a stock or coin in plain words; it never trades and requires Robinhood Gold at $5 a month. Robinhood Agents is an actual trading agent that operates only inside a separate "Agentic" account you fund, so it cannot touch your main holdings.
The agent can trade long stocks, single-leg options and crypto. Trade approvals are on by default for the built-in agent, and you can also connect your own AI over MCP. I cover the details, costs and limits in my Robinhood agentic trading review.
Best for: beginners already on Robinhood who want AI research plus a capped agent.
- Pros: commission-free trading; the separate agent account caps what is at risk.
- Cons: agents are still rolling out; long only, with no shorting or leverage.
Public
Public's Agents turn a plain-language instruction into a workflow that watches the market, trades and manages cash, across stocks, options and crypto. Each workflow needs your explicit sign-off before it runs; after that it acts on its own when your conditions are met, and you can pause or edit it. Alpha, its research tool, is labeled experimental.
Best for: beginners who want to automate a simple strategy without code.
- Pros: full brokerage with broad asset coverage; one clear approval step up front.
- Cons: some capabilities are still rolling out; I could not confirm current pricing on Public's site.
Farao + Orus
Farao takes a different approach: instead of a house AI, Orus connects the AI you already use, whether Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, WhatsApp or Telegram, to a real, self-custodial Farao account. The agent can read positions, scan markets and place orders across 100+ markets: crypto, tokenized stocks like NVDA and TSLA, indexes and commodities, long or short, with up to 50x leverage.
Each connection runs in one of two modes. Manual needs your confirmation on every order. Autonomous trades only inside the max size, max leverage and daily cap you set. The agent cannot withdraw or transfer funds at all, and every session shows its own PnL and can be revoked instantly. The Orus docs cover setup for each client.
Best for: active traders who want their own AI to go long or short across crypto and stocks from one account.
- Pros: works with the AI you already use; shorting and leverage; funds stay in your wallet.
- Cons: perps and leverage carry liquidation risk; not a traditional brokerage account.
Composer
Composer lets you describe a strategy and your risk tolerance in plain English, and its AI editor builds it, backtests it and then trades and rebalances it automatically. It runs through Composer Securities, an SEC-registered broker-dealer and FINRA and SIPC member. Pricing starts at $0 for one automated strategy, $10 a month for five, and $32 a month billed yearly for the Pro tier.
Best for: beginners who want hands-off, rules-based investing.
- Pros: the cheapest real automation here; registered broker-dealer.
- Cons: no crypto; built for rebalancing rather than intraday trading.
TrendSpider
TrendSpider is a charting platform with a lot of AI on top: the Sidekick assistant, machine-learning models in Quant Model Lab, automated chart analysis and trading bots. Bots route orders to 30+ brokers and crypto exchanges. Coverage spans stocks, ETFs, options and futures (both with paid data add-ons), forex and crypto, with native iOS and Android apps. Plans showed first-year promotional prices from about $49.68 a month, rising to roughly $54 to $89 afterwards, and AI assistant messages are capped by plan.
Best for: chart-focused active traders who want bots and a mobile app.
- Pros: broad asset coverage; strong backtesting and automation.
- Cons: pricing is confusing; options data, futures data and extra AI messages cost more.
StockHero
StockHero is a no-code bot builder with a marketplace of ready-made bots and backtesting. Bots trade automatically through a linked broker such as TradeStation, E*TRADE, Webull, Tradier or Alpaca. Stocks, ETFs and futures are on all plans; crypto starts on Premium. Lite costs $49.99 a month with two bots and a 14-day trial, and Premium costs $99.99 with 15 bots. There are iOS and Android apps.
Best for: people who want to build a trading bot without coding.
- Pros: an approachable builder; works with many brokers.
- Cons: you still design the strategy; costs add up as you add bots.
Trade Ideas
Trade Ideas is the long-running pick of professional day traders. Its Holly AI tests strategies overnight and sends trade signals during the session, and the scanner is among the best available. It suggests rather than trades by default; the Premium plan lists auto-trading through linked brokers. It costs $127 a month (or $89 a month billed yearly), and Premium is $254 a month, which is where reviewers place the AI features.
Best for: active US stock day traders working at a desk.
- Pros: deep scanner and signals; long track record.
- Cons: expensive; desktop-first with a steep learning curve.
Best AI Trading App For Beginners
- Want AI to explain the market, not trade: Robinhood Cortex.
- Want a strategy that runs itself, cheaply: Composer, free for one strategy.
- Want to try an agent with a hard cap on risk: Robinhood Agents, with approvals left on.
- Want to use the AI you already have, with approval on every order: Farao + Orus in Manual mode, with a small balance.
Whatever you pick, start with approvals on and a small amount, and treat the first month as learning, not earning.
Which AI Trading App Fits You?

Frequently Asked Questions
Are AI trading apps legit?
Many are, but the category attracts fraud. The SEC, FINRA and NASAA have jointly warned about platforms claiming AI systems that cannot lose, and the CFTC has noted that AI does not turn trading bots into money machines. Check that the broker holding your money is registered, and walk away from any promised return.
Can an AI trade for me automatically?
Yes. Composer, StockHero and TrendSpider bots run automatically once set up, Public's agents act after you approve a workflow, and Robinhood Agents and Farao's Orus can trade without per-order approval if you allow it. Starting with approval on is the safer default.
What is the best free AI trading app?
Composer's free tier automates one strategy. Orus is free to connect to a Farao account, with normal trading fees on orders. Robinhood's Cortex needs a Gold subscription.
Can AI predict the stock market?
No. AI is good at monitoring, summarizing and executing consistently, which can make a sound strategy easier to run. It does not know where prices are going, and it can be confidently wrong.
Is AI trading safe for beginners?
It is as safe as the controls around it. Prefer apps where you approve trades or set hard caps, use a small balance, and avoid leverage until you understand liquidation. None of this is investment advice.
